Time to get covered in mud! (4x4 Tanger)

Hi guys! Hope you all had a great weekend! Here in Tangier it has been pouring with rain for the last few days.
Sunday afternoon the sun came out so we decided to go for a drive in the Jeep. I followed my friends, Didier and Anne Marie who drive the Nissan Patrol. It was our first outing without our 'teacher' (friend who drives the Toyota).
My Jeep still hasn't had it's lift and tires so we decided to do something easy. Didier had been down this track a couple of times before. He said it was a nice easy drive, mainly rocky.
We soon found out that with all the rain the 'rocky track' had turned into an 'extremely muddy track'! In places the mud was deep and elsewhere it was very slippery! In the end it was actually a rather difficult (but fun) ride!

Below is the video of our muddy outing.
Some fun parts in the video:
1.00 : the Jeep going though some deep mud / Un passage boueux pour la Jeep
1.30: The Nissan skidding all over the place / La Nissan qui glisse partout

**************

Here's the story more in detail!
We headed off at the beginning of the afternoon. We had to drive along the road a bit to get to our desired track.

The first part of the track was easy going. Nice and rocky and firm...
La première partie du chemin était facile. Des cailloux et graviers fermement tassés...

...but not after long we hit a muddy spot...
The mud was rather deep but we both passed with no problems. We thought that it would be the only muddy spot...

We were wrong! The more we drove the more muddier the track became!

The rocky areas where fine. No sinking and no skidding!

At one point we fell on a very muddy mushy area! When I saw the Nissan having difficulty passing though I did worry a little. My Jeep is much lower...
But the Jeep plowed through, no problem at all! Being lighter, the Jeep doesn't sink as much as the Nissan.

Some parts of the track were really slippery. We were skidding everywhere driving sideways at some points! It's a bit like driving on ice. It can be a bit scary when you feel the back of your car skidding towards a cliff edge, and you don't have much control.
We continued to plow along, slowly but surely.

The views were spectacular. The clouds made pretty shadows over the hills.

An enormous Olive Tree! I wonder how old it must be?
Un Olivier enorme! Je me demande bien quelle age cet arbre peut avoir?
We also got to see life outside of the city.
Lots of friendly people watched and waved as we skidded by.

In the end we got stuck. I didn't really like the look of the next part of the track. As you can see on the photo below it just goes straight down. With all the mud I was scared to just slip out of control!

They guys were putting rocks in the hole to try and make it possible for us to pass when a local came over to us. He told us not to go any further, that the track was really bad at the bottom and that we would get stuck for sure.
It was so kind of him to warn us. That's what I love about Morocco, people are always ready and always want to help.
We listened to his advice and turned around. The Nissan got stuck in that deep muddy spot I was talking about earlier. It took us ages to put enough rocks down to pass through!
Back on the slippery tracks! The sun was setting. We really hoped that we would not get stuck again and make it back before dark!
We didn't have any more problems, and were back in the city by dark.
It was a great little ride! A bit scary at times but fun all the same. I'm proud of my little Jeep for crawling through all that mud without getting stuck! Now the Jeep is covered in mud (my shoes also) and need a good wash. I can't wait for our next trip!

Anne-Marie and I are soon going to start doing desert raids and humanitarian races, so I need to find a cool team name!
I thought about something with 'BAM' in it (B for Bel and AM for Anne-Marie). If you have any ideas please let me know! I'm not very good at creating catchy names! :)

Have a great week!
Bonne semaine!

    1. The weather is much better here than in Europe. when it rains, it's a big downpour, but then the sun come's out and it's nice and warm! It's green at the moment but in the summer everything is brown (burn my the sun)
